2015 Europe Tuesday 21, Day4

Well, we arrived in Amsterdam this morning and since this is the first time we have had good internet service since we started the trip I will be sending abbreviated comments on the two weeks on the ship.

 Tuesday,

After a sound sleep we woke to the peaceful rocking of the ship and a beautiful blue sky.  What a great way to start a vacation…room service with a fruit plate, juices, lots of coffee and an omelet.  Just like home!

We spent the rest of the morning attending a Cruise Critic welcoming party where we met the host for our tour of Amsterdam following the cruise.  There is a couple that live in Amsterdam that take numerous cruises and following their cruises they offer a two day tour of their town, including both walking and canal boat tours as well as going to the flower markets and an evening dinner at a Rice Restaurant, which sounds like tapas as they served many different items to taste.  Should be interesting.  We are really looking forward to this event, especially since they offer it for free.

We also signed up for some watercolor and acrylic painting classes that should be fun as I have not done either medium before.

Dinner was at a the Murano, one of the  specialty restaurants on the ship.  Shirl and I had the lobster while Kathy had venison.  All three meals were excellent.  We will be celebrating Shirl’s birthday at this restaurant on May 1st.

The evening shows have been quite good, in fact probably one of the better consistent shows we have seen on cruise ships.

During the show the captain, who is Greek and quite the comedian himself, introduced the ship officers.  As he introduced each of them he indicated they were either Greek, could speak Greek, was married to a Greek, or in the case of the two female officers was looking for a Greek husband.  He said before he goes to bed each night he prays to the gods, all of them, that we land in Lisbon. He then stated that at this point if we are only one degree off we will be landing in Africa..

Good night all,

Shirl and Roger
