Heidelberg

Today, Tuesday, May 12, we arrived in Mannheim, Germany with a beautiful blue sky.  We boarded the bus and took a 30 minute drive to the town of Heidelberg where we toured the Schoss Castle sitting high above the town.

If you look closely you will notice a sun dial on the  face of the building wall above the windows.  I noticed that it was off by 90 minutes.  When I asked the tour guide she said the hour was due to day light savings time and the 30 minutes was due to the earths rotation over 600 years.  What do you think Russ, sound possible?

Heidelberg is a beautiful city, especially in the old part of town.  I know several of you have visited or lived in this area of the world and both Shirl and I can understand your love for this city.  While it is a little larger than our favorite size for a city , it does have the charm of a smaller town.  We had a nice lunch consisting of a bratwurst, potatoes, sauerkraut, and lots of beer.

Probably the best lunch we have had on the trip.

Mark, Janet, and Mary we thought of you VW lovers when we saw this beauty.  Well, the beautiful girl driving it also helped but she got away before I could get her picture....

We all know what this is
