Lisbon, Portugal

On Tuesday, April 28, we arrived in the beautiful city of Lisbon with clear skies and flat seas, which has been typical weather for most days on the cruise.

Prior to our cruise there was a couple that coordinated a private tour of Lisbon that we had signed on for along with about 40 other travelers.  Our tour took us north to the Penta Palace as well as a stop in Cascais, a little coastal city north of Lisbon, and the downtown area of Lisbon.

Beautiful grain terminal as you enter into Lisbon. The ship also goes under a beautiful bridge that is labeled the Golden Gate of Lisbon.  Once past the bridge, which has cars on the top and trains below, there is a beautiful statue of Christ up on the hill.

Throughout the castle there are numerous beautiful tiles, as Portugal is famous for them.

Doug, this one is for you!  The typical method for installing electrical and data lines.  Does not looks like one of our jobs!
Many of the tiles have a 3-D appearance.

The palace is so large it is impossible to get a good picture of it.  It was built in two stages, with a middle connecting part constructed later.

Having lunch in Cascais with new friends, Dee, John, Dawn and Joe.

Nice beach in Cascais

Back to the ship after an enjoyable day.
