Today, Tuesday, May 19, we woke to a light Sequim drizzle which made us feel right at home so we took off for Murren. There are two ways to get to Murren, which is located on a shelf above Lauterbrunnen. The first is via a cable car located immediately beside our hotel and the other is via a cable car in the town of Stecheleberg, about 10 Km from Lauterbrunnen. We elected to do the lift beside our hotel which takes us up to Grutschalp at 4879 Ft. There we take a cog rail train to the town of Murren.

Murren has only a few vehicles, mostly small trucks used by local merchants and contractors as there is a lot of building in the area. As we were walking along I noticed an area with numerous metal poles standing in the ground, some of the poles were about 30 feet high. My first thought was they were antennas and upon asking a gentlemen he said no, they want to build a building there and before anyone can get a building permit they need to show the outline and height of the proposed building. An interesting concept.

| On the train from Grutschalp to Murren. Wengren is in the far distant across the valley from Murren. |

| These three boys were going to the jump-off point in Murren where the hang gliders take off. We saw them later in the air. We have seen numerous hang gliders here. |

| You have to love the accommodations here, Shirl can do the laundry while I play pool. |
 |
| Only in Murren do you find a store without anyone to tend the business. |

| Several people have commented about being in Wengen before so I thought a map of the current city would be useful. |
 |
| Leaving Wengen and going to Kleine-Scheidegg, gateway to the Jungfrau. With the current weather we will not be going up the mountain but we will go to Zweilutschinen and then back to Lauterbrunnen. |
 |
Back in Lauterbrunnen and having dinner. I copied the dinner menu so you can see the prices have not been as bad as we thought they would be.
Tomorrow we will try to go to Interlaken and back to Grindelwald.
Good night all,
Shirl and Roger
